"And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter."

How about this?

"Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of sceptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."

Considering cats and mostly dogs, I don’t know if there has been more cruelty lately or if it’s simply a matter of media outlets finally making room for such stories… The thing is a percentage of Brazilian population is appalled by the recent events: A small Yorkshire beaten to death by his “master” and then thrown by the window… A small dog buried alive by his “master” and so many other horror stories have made people decide it was time to demand strict laws to protect these animals because right now, there are none.
Slaughter your dog and you’ll get away with it, kill 60 helpless puppies and kittens and you’ll get away with it; Brazil is after all, the country where everything goes unpunished.
Yesterday, peaceful “marches” took places in dozens of cities and while the impact caused is close to zero, it was good to see people taking over the streets again. Brazilians need to learn how to use our power to demand action from politicians.

On a selfish note, I’m very proud that the event in my city was organized solely by my friend [info]clara_habib. She’s a star.

I picked some of the many pictures we took in Caraíva and Trancoso to post here; I sincerely hope you like them, those are magical places. :)

If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home. )

I got a little crazy with the camera last Friday and as a result I have a folder with over 200 pics taken in just one afternoon. (That’s all part of my “how to become a crazy cat lady” guidebook, if you’re interested.)
Without further ado...

His majesty... Lolo!
He's the most adored and he knows it. Lolo is not very useful (it's a joke) and not very huggable but still rules the place. His nickname is "Vossa Ranhetice" which translates into something like "Mr. Grumpy".

More Lolo behind the cut. )

Then there's Shanti, forever hungry.
She gets along well with Lolo and the two of them spend an awful lot of time doing nothing. They like to do nothing together inside cabinets, drawers and other similarly “hard to locate” places, proving they’re not very useful because everyone knows a cat’s main function in life is to beautify a house.
She’s sweet and likes to cuddle in the morning but I know she’s only seducing me for food. Her nickname is “Vossa Obesidade”, or Mrs. Obesity.

More Shanti behind the cut, actually, before you defriend me, more of everyone behind the cut. ;) )

And this one will not go behind the cut because I want everyone to be in awe of his amazing black coat. :D
